Travel Defaults
Configure default behavior for all travel requests.
Require Cost Code
When enabled, travelers must select a cost code for every booking.
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Enabled | Cost code selection is mandatory |
| Disabled | Cost code is optional |
Best for: Organizations that need strict expense allocation and tracking.
Require Approval by Default
When enabled, all trips require approval unless a policy rule explicitly allows auto-approval.
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Enabled | All trips need approval by default |
| Disabled | Only trips violating policy need approval |
Best for: Organizations wanting tight control over all travel spending.
Domain Verification
Verified domains ensure only people with your company email can join your organization.
Why Verify Domains?
- Security: Prevents unauthorized access
- Auto-enrollment: Users with verified email domains can be invited
- Trust: Confirms you own the email domain
Adding a Domain
- Go to Settings → Verified Domains
- Enter your domain (e.g.,
company.com) - Click Add
A verification code is generated:
- Valid for 24 hours
- Must be added as a TXT record in your DNS
DNS Verification
To verify your domain, add a TXT record:
- Log into your DNS provider (e.g., Cloudflare, Route53, GoDaddy)
- Add a TXT record:
- Name/Host:
@or your domain - Value: The verification code shown in Helix
- TTL: 300 (or your provider's default)
- Name/Host:
- Wait for DNS propagation (up to 48 hours, usually faster)
- The status will update to Verified
Domain Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Awaiting DNS verification |
| Verified | Domain confirmed; invitations can use this domain |
Removing a Domain
- Find the domain in the list
- Click the trash icon
- Confirm removal
Removing a verified domain doesn't affect existing users, but prevents new invitations to that domain.
Multiple Domains
Organizations with multiple email domains can verify all of them:
- Primary domain: Your main company domain
- Subsidiary domains: Domains for acquired companies
- Regional domains: Country-specific domains
Each domain needs separate DNS verification.
